Colinas do Sul is a town with a strong local culture and a variety of attractions. Because it sits at a different altitude from the other Chapada towns, it always offers plenty of sun and a pleasant climate.

History and paths

Colinas do Sul took shape in the area of the Córrego Almécegas, with settlement intensifying in the 1950s. In 1953, the district of Lajes belonged to Cavalcante. The village consolidated in 1955 and adopted the name Colinas. The municipality was created by State Law No. 10,403 of December 30, 1987, and formally established in 1989.

Lago de Serra da Mesa adds another landscape to the trip. Designed with a capacity of approximately 54 billion cubic meters and an area of about 1,784 km², the reservoir offers options for fishing and boat trips. The water level varies, and boating should be arranged with a suitable vessel and a pilot.

Cattle ranching, mining and tourism are part of the regional economy. The Caçada da Rainha, traditionally celebrated in July, brings together music, processions, devotion and community memory.

Besides rivers, hot springs and waterfalls, the area offers experiences such as D’Boa Ecoparque, Cachoeira Pau Brasil, Solar da Colina and the Sítio Arqueológico Curicaca. Visiting Curicaca requires booking ahead and a guide.
