Bocaina do Farias is a refuge of narrow canyons and greenish water. Travel references put it at approximately 55 km from São João d’Aliança or 65 km from Alto Paraíso, including about 27 km of dirt road from GO-118, depending on the access used.
The walk of approximately 2.5 km each way includes descents and an approach over uneven terrain. Inside the canyon, the light passing through changes the color of the water; in the dry season, the sunbeams can become more defined. Toca da Andorinha and the two final pools are highlights.
The route involves stretches in the water and may require swimming, equipment and specialized guiding. Appropriate footwear and the items specified by the operator should be part of what you book. Don’t improvise your way into the canyon because you found a track in an app.
