Complexo do Macaco requires more planning than the outings with an entrance gate close to the highway. You need to arrange a 4x4 vehicle, a guide and advance booking from Alto Paraíso, even though the attraction is in the São João d’Aliança cluster.

The trail to Macacão is given as approximately two kilometers each way. The route crosses rocky-outcrop cerrado, descends over rocky terrain and approaches the river. In the dry season, the water may show golden tones and greater clarity.

Escadaria and Catedral are other names in the complex. There are records of the usual access to Elo Perdido being closed. Later references to names and canyoning circuits in the region do not prove that this usual access has reopened; confirm exactly which activity is being sold and what equipment is needed.
